Oceania Cruises is Launching the Industry’s First Entirely Gluten-Free Ocean Voyage
If you have celiac disease or prefer to eat gluten-free, eating on vacation can require planning and can cause anxiety and frustration. While cruises often have a plethora of food options, eating gluten-free can still be difficult.
However, Oceania Cruises is now preparing a trip where every onboard dining option will be gluten-free. The 12-night cruise leaves Southampton, England, on May 31, 2028. It will visit ports in England, Ireland and Scotland before returning on June 12.
Passengers can eat at all 11 dining spots aboard Oceania Vista without asking for a separate menu. Even the afternoon tea, bakery and room service will be part of the gluten-free experience.
Of course, a luxury cruise with this much specialty food isn’t going to be cheap. Available cabins currently start at $8,199 per person.

According to Oceania Cruises, this will be the cruise industry’s first ocean trip with an entirely gluten-free dining program.
It will include Italian food at Toscana, steaks at Polo Grill, Asian-inspired meals at Red Ginger, French food at Jacques, and casual dining near the pool at Waves Grill.
The Grand Dining Room, Terrace Café, Aquamar Kitchen and the ship’s other food spots will also change their menus for the cruise to become completely gluten-free. Oceania says travelers will not need to question how their meals were prepared or worry about cross-contamination onboard.
Celiac Cruise is helping the cruise line plan the experience and is also an official booking partner. It has previously organized sailings with dedicated gluten-free kitchens and menus.
The Ship Will Make 9 Stops
After spending the first full day at sea, Oceania Vista will arrive in Cobh, Ireland. The next stops are Dún Laoghaire near Dublin and Liverpool, England.
From there, the ship travels to Greenock, Belfast, Stornoway and Kirkwall. It also stops in Invergordon in the Scottish Highlands and Newhaven near Edinburgh.
Passengers get one more day at sea before arriving back in Southampton. The complete itinerary includes arrival and departure times for every port.
The cheapest Available Room Is over $8,000
A French Veranda room is listed for $7,299 per person, but that category is already waitlisted. The least expensive room still available costs $8,199 per person, based on two people sharing.
Every passenger must pay a $750 deposit when booking. The deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable, and the final payment is due by Dec. 1, 2027.
Gratuities and internet for two devices per room are included. Travelers can also choose between a beverage package or a $600 shore excursion credit for their cabin. Everyone on the ship must be at least 18 years old. Reservations are available through Oceania Cruises, Celiac Cruise or a travel agent.
