The crew working at River Reach Construction experienced one of those days recently when they discovered a stray kitten in one of their machines. Fortunately for the kitten, the crew noticed the stowaway pretty quickly, and they worked together to free the little orange tabby.
A quick-thinking worker managed to pull their camera out to capture the process. One man needed to crawl under the Komatsu machine to take part of the rig off so that they could finally free the terrified kitty. As you can imagine, the little kitten was very scared, and then the men on the job site quickly turned into foster parents, cuddling the baby until they figured out what to do.
The video quickly went viral, and the construction crew leaned into their newfound fame by making the kitten their unofficial mascot.
Now, she’s gained quite the following online, and the construction company’s posts are now getting flooded with requests for more kitten content. Thankfully, the construction company is more than happy to oblige, and they have been sharing tons of updates about the tiny rescue.
There Were No Signs of Any Other Cats at the Job Site

After the video went viral, Chase Guello gave an update about the kitten. He explained how they looked around the job site to see if her mom or any of her siblings were still around, but they didn’t find any signs of any other cats, so they took her home to care for her with the understanding that someone would need to give her around-the-clock attention until she got a little older.
Fortunately, Guello says his mom’s friend is involved in a rescue program, and she volunteered to take care of her for the first few weeks.
They Used a Poll to Decide the Kitten’s Name
Since so many people kept watching and commenting on the videos they were sharing, the company decided to posta poll to come up with her name. In the end, Komatsu was the name that won, and they ended up calling the little girl Sue for short.
“Never in 100 years did I think I’d be so invested in a construction company Instagram page, but here we are,” one person wrote in the comments of the post with the name reveal.
The Manufacturer of the Machine the Kitten Was Found in Sent a Care Package
Two weeks after Sue’s rescue went viral, the company that makes the machine where she was found sent a few things for both the crew and Sue, providing the humans with some swag and giving Sue her own mini hard hat, construction vest, and even a tiny replica of the Komatsu.
People demanded to see Sue in her new gear, and the construction company posted some photos of the kitty fashion show. “Omg! This is what the internet is for,” one person commented.
It’s been a little over a month since Sue was first rescued, and the videos keep coming. That’s good news for Sue’s adoring fans who keep tuning in to get new updates on how she’s doing. It’s also good news for Sue because that means she’s doing really well with her new family.
According to Philly Paws, younger kittens who need to be bottle-fed face some of the biggest challenges due to how much attention they need. Hopefully, the fact that Sue looks bigger and healthier in each video means that she’s coming along nicely and will soon be ready to go to her forever home, which one update said means going home with one of the crew members who first found her.
